A Huge THANK YOU to All the DP Alumni who Have Participated in the DP Advances Campaign So Far!

Your generosity has helped to remove barriers to participation for deserving student leaders at The Daily Pennsylvanian. We thank you!

For the first time in DP history, we’re compensating board members with 2,000 dollar stipends. These stipends acknowledge the work students do–often at the expense of their studies–to keep campus informed.

Isabella Simonetti Wins Nora Magid Mentorship Prize

Congratulations to Isabella Simonetti from the entire DPAA family! She is the winner of this year’s Nora Magid Mentorship Prize at the University of Pennsylvania. Isabella spent four years at The Daily Pennsylvanian, where she just finished her term as President, navigating the organization through one of it’s most challenging years in recent history. She was also a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship. Beginning in June, she will be a news intern at Bloomberg News in New York.

Isabella was recognized as having the drive, the breadth of skills and interests, and the commitment to helping others improve journalistically that Nora Magid so admired in young nonfiction writers. She was recommended to the Nora Magid Prize committee by DP Alum Buzz Bissinger, who teaches Advanced Nonfiction Writing–the course created by Nora in the late 1970s–in Penn’s Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing.
